Commissioners to look at Comp Plan

Several years of preparation could come to a head this week.

The Kootenai County commissioners will hold deliberations on the fourth draft of the county Comprehensive Plan at 10 a.m. on Thursday.

The planning document is intended to guide development in the county for at least the next 10 years.

The county started working on updating the 1994 comprehensive plan in 2006. The county Planning and Zoning Commission presented the final draft to the commissioners last January, which the commissioners were reviewing up until this summer.

The officials tabled deliberations on the document after holding a public hearing on Oct. 26.

The deliberations are scheduled to be in room 1B of the Kootenai County Administration Building.

5K, 10K to benefit CAP Food Bank

COEUR d'ALENE - Two runs on Saturday will benefit the Community Action Partnership Food Bank.

Both a 5K and 10K run are scheduled at 10 a.m. at Riverstone Park.

The event is being put on by the Lake City Triathlon Club.

Entry fee is $10 with a food donation, $20 without.

Both race courses will be on the Centennial Trail. Participants have chance to win a turkey by predicting their finish time. The person whose prediction is closest to their actual time in each fun run gets a turkey. It won't be as easy as it sounds, because no watches are allowed.
