Dubose, Jones win for NIC

ASHLAND, Ore. - Freshman Marcel Dubose (285 pounds) and sophomore Jamelle Jones (197) won championships for North Idaho College at the Best of the West wrestling tournament which concluded Sunday.

Dubose went 6-0 and won by pin in his championship match. Jones was 5-0 and won in overtime in his title match.

"What a good tournament overall for those two guys," NIC coach Pat Whitcomb said. "Overall, we didn't lose a match once we got to the placing rounds. It was nice to see everyone wrestling hard to the end."

Kyle McCrite (125), Brock Banta (133), Braden Mowry (141), Jake Mason (165) and Jesse Neilsen (174) each placed third for NIC, and Jeremy Bommarito (157) was fifth.

NIC hosts the Cardinal Duals on Friday, then competes at the HUB Open on Saturday at the HUB in Liberty Lake.
