Spartans too much for Eastern

CHENEY (AP) - Adrian Oliver scored 14 of his 34 points in the final 6:25, carrying San Jose State to a 67-60 victory over Eastern Washington on Friday night in the season opener for both teams.

The 6-foot-4 Oliver, the nation's second-leading returning scorer from a year ago at 22.5 points per game, hit the 30-point mark for the 11th time in his career.

Tremayne Johnson scored 21 points and Jeffrey Forbes added 15 for the Eagles.
