COOS BAY, Ore. - Former Coeur d'Alene High standouts Braden Mowry and Jesse Neilsen earned pins as the second-ranked North Idaho Cardinal wrestling team defeated Southwestern Oregon 40-3 in a nonconference dual on Friday.

"This gets us a good start for the weekend," NIC coach Pat Whitcomb said. "Hopefully our guys will use a springboard into a good tournament."

NIC competes in the Best of the West tournament today and Sunday in Ashland, Ore.

"We'll get multiple matches in a day on both days," Whitcomb said. "It's a good chance to get them in a tournament atmosphere and seeing what they can do after some duals."
