Versus to televise

Apple Cup on Dec. 4

PULLMAN - The Apple Cup between Washington State and Washington on Dec. 4 at Martin Stadium will be televised on the Versus network at 4 p.m., it was announced.

This year's meeting will be the 103rd in series history.

Ex-Lake City standout York

receives academic honors

EUGENE, Ore. - Carson York, a redshirt sophomore for the University of Oregon football team, has been named to the ESPN Academic All-American District 8 team.

York, a former Lake City High standout, earned a spot on the Academic All-American ballot as a result.

York has started five games at left tackle and one at right tackle for the nation's top scoring offense and carries a 3.70 GPA in journalism.

To be eligible, student-athletes must have a GPA of 3.30 or higher and be a starter or significant reserve. District 8 consists of universities in Alaska, Arizona, California, Hawaii, Idaho, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, Washington and British Columbia.

Stanford tabbed to win

Pac-10 Conference title

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - Stanford was the unanimous pick to win the Pac-10 Conference women's basketball title in 2010-11, the conference announced on Tuesday.

UCLA was picked second, followed by California, Southern California, Arizona State, Arizona, Oregon, Washington, Washington State and Oregon State.

Stanford standouts Nnemkadi Ogwumike and Kayla Pedersen were the only unanimous selections to the all Pac-10 team, which include Jeanette Pohlen of Stanford, Arizona's Ify Ibekwe and UCLA's Jasmine Dixon.

Shock add Archer

to 2011 roster

SPOKANE - The Spokane Shock have added quarterback RJ Archer to the 2011 roster, the team announced on Tuesday.

A two-sport athlete at the College of William and Mary, Archer completed 290 of 490 attempts for 3,190 yards with 19 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. Archer also played baseball for the school and was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Minnesota Vikings.

In his first two seasons with the Tribe, Archer was used as a wide receiver, recording 69 receptions for 940 yards and one touchdown.
