David Anderson, 78

David Anderson, 78, of Post Falls, passed away Nov. 8, 2010, at his home, after fighting a battle with lung cancer.

David was born in Woburn, Mass., on Dec. 9, 1931, to John and Mildred Anderson. He grew up in Stoneham, Mass. At the age of 17 he joined the U.S. Army. While serving his country during the Korean War, David worked with communications, installing radios and phones.

Some of his favorite activities included: hunting, gardening and fishing. He raised and trained blood hounds and worked with the local Search & Rescue in Snohomish County, Wash., and in Kootenai County. He had a great love for animals. His front porch was always covered with bird seed or treats for the squirrels that would stop by and visit with him.

David was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his only brother, Raymond (Ellie) Anderson of Fairport, N.Y.; sons: Robert (Judi) Anderson of Kennewick, Wash., Raymond (Mary) Anderson of Walla Walla, Wash.; and daughter Karen (Neil) Sullivan of West Richland, Wash.; grandsons: Geoff, David, Dana, Kevin, Clayton, Adam and Jeremy; great-grandchildren: Dawsen, Lily and Aiden; nieces: Jan and Debbie; and nephew David.

David's family would like to thank the VA Hospital and their staff for the outstanding care that was given to our Dad during his treatment and stay at the hospital. A very special thanks to the staff at Hospice of North Idaho; Katy, Alene, Liz and Elizabeth for the compassionate care they provided for our Dad in his final days.

There will be a private family service held at a later date. English Funeral Chapel in Coeur d'Alene has been entrusted to handle the cremation.
