Children's Village event set

HAYDEN LAKE - Children's Village Foundation, Inc. will host a Holiday Luncheon and Silent Auction at the Hayden Lake Country Club on Thursday.

The event runs from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., with lunch served at noon. Doors open at 10 a.m.

Proceeds will benefit Children's Village, a Coeur d'Alene-based philanthropy that provides a safe, nurturing environment for local youngsters, many of whom have been abused or neglected.

Development director Tinka Schaffer said Children's Village currently serves about 20 young people. Most of the children are from Kootenai County; some are taught at the Children's Village school, and many live on-site.

"It's just a nice luncheon and silent auction," Schaffer said, adding that Hayden Lake Country Club is a beautiful venue. "It's just a relaxing, fun place to go."

The event is holiday-themed. The meal features parmesan-crusted halibut, spinach salad, a vegetable and dessert, Schaffer said.

Auction items include holiday wreaths, wine baskets, dinner at local restaurants, a cherrywood vanity and tools.

Tickets are $32 each. Corporate tables seat eight people and are available for $300. Tickets must be reserved and prepaid prior to the event to ensure seating. Please call Children's Village at 667-1189.
