Garden Valley blanks Kootenai in 1A Division II playoff opener

HARRISON FLATS - Casey Hileman ran for 170 yards and four touchdowns as the Garden Valley Wolverines defeated the Kootenai Warriors 48-0 in the quarterfinals of the state 1A Division II football playoffs on Saturday.

"They came out and controlled the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball," Kootenai coach Doug Napierala said. "We forced a punt on their first possession and things were looking good. They had a short field to work with and were playing aggressive on defense. We just didn't win the game in the trenches."

Brandon Carman had 14 carries for 56 yards for Kootenai, which concludes the season 5-5.

Garden Valley (9-1) plays Salmon River (9-1) in the semifinals next week.
