Chiefs cap six-game road trip with victory

SWIFT CURRENT, Saskatchewan - Spokane goaltender James Reid had 20 saves as the Chiefs defeated the Swift Current Broncos 3-1 in a Western Hockey League game at the Union iPlex on Saturday night.

"We played with a lot of incentive and played to win," Spokane coach Don Nachbaur said. "We dominated them in every area and deserved to win."

Spokane (8-8-1, 17 points) moves into third place in the U.S. Division.

Collin Valcourt opened the scoring 6:27 into the second period for Spokane. Swift Current tied the game at 1-1 on a goal by Cody Eakin.

Steve Kuhn scored the eventual game-winner with 5:55 remaining for Spokane, which finished 3-2-1 on its East Division trip.

Spokane hosts Edmonton on Friday at 7 p.m. at the Spokane Arena.
