Veterans honored throughout week

Schools in the Coeur d'Alene School District will be honoring American veterans at assemblies, musical programs and receptions in the coming week.

Since Veterans Day - Nov. 11 - is a holiday for students, most school programs will be held Nov. 9 or 10.

Borah Elementary will hold a concert with a slide show presented by third-graders and the Special Chorus at 6:30 p.m. on Nov. 9.

Veterans and parents are welcome to attend Fernan Elementary's special performance by third and fifth-graders on Nov. 9 at 9:30 a.m. or 6:30 p.m.

The public and area veterans are invited to a third grade and Special Chorus performance at Ramsey Elementary also on Nov. 9 at 6:30 p.m.

Atlas has invited a VFW Speaker for 1:30 p.m. on Nov. 10 and the public is welcome.

Two performances are available for the public to attend at Bryan Elementary with the third-graders performing and students sharing about veterans in their families. The performance begins at 9:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. Nov. 10.

Lake City High School will show an informational and impactful video produced by the student council at 9:20 a.m. in the individual classrooms on Nov. 10.

An assembly in Elmer Jordan Court at Coeur d'Alene High School will contain the performance by the American Legion Post 14 on Nov. 10 at 9:35 a.m. The public is welcome.

Veterans from the community will be the guests at Dalton's celebration on Nov. 10 at 9:15 a.m. The ROAD Crew will perform for students and the public.

The Hayden Meadows fifth grade families and veterans will enjoy two performances on Nov. 10 at 2:15 p.m. and 6:30 p.m.

A poem, marching and songs will be performed for veterans and the public on Nov. 10 at Hayden Kinder Center. You are welcome to attend either performance at 11 a.m. or 2:30 p.m.

Skyway Elementary will honor veterans on Nov. 10. The public is invited to attend the 9:15 a.m. or 6 p.m. event.

Sorensen will invite the Taps Players from Coeur d'Alene High School to perform for veterans the following week on Nov. 19 at 1 p.m. Area veterans and the public are invited.

Woodland Middle School will hold an all school assembly at 8 a.m. on Nov. 10 and the public is invited to join the school in recognizing veterans. The school band will play the national anthem and students will be speaking.

Winton and Lakes will hold their celebrations around Pearl Harbor Day and will have assemblies the week of Dec. 6.
