COEUR d'ALENE - Accurate Molded Plastics, the Coeur d'Alene injection molding and tooling company, has spent $2 million on a recent expansion and on improvements at its manufacturing facility, the owner said.

Construction of a 20,000-square-foot addition at its facility, located at 3910 S. Industrial Ave., gives the company space needed for future production growth. The company now has 60,000 square feet of space on five acres.

The company's annual sales have held steady during the last few years at $20 million, with sales primarily going to customers in the medical equipment and aerospace industries. The company also has electronics and recreational products customers. The bulk of its customers are located in the Northwest and California.

Accurate Molded Plastics, owned by Dale Meyer since 2003, employs 150 people.

The company expects to see sales growth in its parts for medical equipment and aerospace.

The additional space allowed the company to rearrange its manufacturing machinery, improving workflow and efficiency. It also gives the company more space for additional manufacturing equipment. The company now will be in a position to keep up with an anticipated increase in demand.

The company decided to complete the expansion now while construction materials and labor costs were low.

Accurate Molded Plastics operates its plant 24 hours a day, five days a week.

The company uses more than 1,000 variations of raw materials to make customized parts. The company uses 5,000 different steel molds, owned by the customers, to manufacture the parts.
