Clean your entire HVAC system this year

| November 3, 2010 9:00 PM

The term, "air duct cleaning" is a misnomer. In actuality, the entire HVAC system should be cleaned.

Failure to clean all components of the system can result in recontamination of the entire system, thus minimizing the benefits of the cleaning. Just as you wouldn't clean half of your living room floor, you also would not want to clean only part of your HVAC system.

A Nu-Look recommends cleaning all of the HVAC components by cleaning the register covers to remove cooking oil film, micro-fine film and other dust-collecting substances.

Then deep clean the source of air supply including (where applicable) the blower, squirrel cage, coils, condensation pan and return air supply. Lastly, brush vacuum clean your air ducts with our exclusive patented technology system. The roto-brush system removes the contaminants that circulate through the air duct system.

You should also sanitize your ducts and vents with our environmentally safe sanitizer commonly used in hospitals and nursing homes which leaves behind a fresh scent.

Beware of the seven-vent cleaning specials for $99 and whole house cleaning specials for $150. These specials are not "specials" at all.

Many of them only include vents and charge extra for the main trunk line.

You want a complete job otherwise there is no reason to have it done. There are several factors that affect cost: Type of air duct work, size of system, system accessibility, the number of crew members, level of contamination, and even environmental factors. Properly cleaning a HVAC system in an average sized home may cost upwards of $300-$600.

Don't forget to clean your dryer vent as well. The number one cause of house fires (over 15,000 per year) is a clogged dryer vent. The lint that builds up in your dryer vent restricts air flow which will not allow your clothes to dry and will eventually start a fire.

So if it has been more than four years since you have had your air ducts cleaned or more than two years since your dryer vent was cleaned, call Chad at A Nu-Look Cleaning & Restoration at 667-4984 to schedule your free inspection and written quote.
