Memorial Day ceremonies planned

Here are public Memorial Day events planned for Monday:

COEUR d'ALENE - 9 a.m. - VFW 889 will host ceremonies at Veterans Park at Third and Front.

9:15 - A wreath will be tossed in the water by the Third Street docks to honor Navy seamen lost sea.

10 - VFW 889 ceremonies at St. Thomas Cemetery.

11 - VFW 889 host ceremonies at Forest Cemetery

2 p.m. - Pappy Boyington Detachment 966 Marine Corps League and Auxiliary host ceremonies at Coeur d'Alene Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

3 p.m. - National moment of silence.

POST FALLS - The American Legion will hold a service at 11 a.m. at Evergreen Cemetery, 2834 N. Spokane St. There will be a gun salute, laying of wreaths at the base of the veterans memorial recognizing the wars. Sen. Jim Hammond, R-Post Falls, will speak.

At 1 p.m. next to City Hall and the museum, a veterans memorial will dedicated along Spokane Street. Local artist Linda Fabrizius painted a timeline of local veterans from the 1850s to present.

HAYDEN - Ceremony at Veterans' Memorial Plaza at 11 a.m. The plaza, which includes commemorative bricks for more than 100 military heroes, as well as the Robert J. Gordon Memorial, is in front of Hayden City Hall.

RATHDRUM - The VFW will hold a ceremony at Pine Grove Cemetery at 11 a.m.

SPIRIT LAKE - The VFW will hold a ceremony at Greenwood Cemetery at noon.

BLANCHARD - The VFW will hold a ceremony at the cemetery at 11 a.m.

MEDICAL LAKE - 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Eastern Washington Veterans Cemetery dedication ceremonies
