Marina Schneider, 70

Marina Sylvia Schneider, 70, passed away at Kootenai Medical Center in Coeur d’Alene on Thursday, May 20, 2010.

Marina was born in Coeur d’Alene on Oct. 29, 1939, to David J. and Eva M. Thomson. She was raised in Hayden Lake and Coeur d’Alene. She attended St. Thomas Parochial School and Coeur d’Alene High School. She was the runner up in the very first Miss Hayden Lake Pageant.

She was the owner of the Lane Tavern in Rose Lake, and the Turner Station/Jackass Junction in French Camp, Calif.

Marina’s pastimes included gardening, feeding and watching her hummingbirds. She loved spending time at the Coeur d’Alene Rivera, sitting and watching the water, being outdoors, boating and camping. She was an excellent cook, famous for her potato salad and loved sharing recipes. She also loved to read all types of books.

She is survived by her children, Holly J. Quigley-Papke of Manteca, Calif., Sindy Quigley of Placerville, Calif., Michelle Quinonez of Manteca, Calif., Teresa Nebarez of Stockton, Calif.; stepchildren Debra, Karen and Vincent Schneider, all of Lathrop, Calif., Stephen Schneider of Manteca, Calif.; mother Eva Knutson of Coeur d’Alene; sisters Patrica (Wally) Perry of Athol, Janet Braden (Patrick) of Coeur d’Alene, Dian Olson of Spokane; brothers Tim and Steve Thomson of Rose Lake, Dave (Mary) Thomson of Silverton, Mike Thomson of Kennwick, Wash.; stepbrothers Lonnie (Bev) Knutson of Twin Lakes, Ronald Knutson of Calif.; stepsister Mary (Jo) Steel of Dalton; 14 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren; and multiple nieces, nephews and cousins.

Marina is preceded in death by her husbands, Michael P. Quigley and Jerry Schneider; father David J. Thomson of Hayden Lake; stepfather Myron Knutson of Coeur d’Alene; sisters Virginia Thomson and Angela (Martin) Koestar of Coeur d’Alene; brother Dan (Sue) Thomson of Post Falls.

The memorial service will be announced at a later date. English Funeral Chapel, Coeur d’Alene, is in charge of the arrangements.
