| May 25, 2010 4:39 AM

Lemuel Elbert “Al” Bristow, 82, passed away on May 21, 2010.  He was born March 15, 1928, in Milwaukie, Ore., to Seaborn Ray Bristow Jr. and Velma Pearl Bowersox Bristow. He is proceeded in death by his wife Dorothy, both his parents, his brother James Bristow, his sister Angeline Thompson, and his son Ernest Bristow.

He worked as a ranch hand, salesman, milkman, tailor, custodian, and his last job was teaching building maintenance. He also was a volunteer county sheriff for a short time in the sixties and worked as bouncer at a country dance club.

Al was known as a “Jack of all Trades” he could fix most anything, for him, things were never broken, just needed looked at. He had the gift of gab, he would walk the neighborhood and strike up a conversation with anyone. If he called you friend, it meant that he would do just about anything for you, without needing anything in return.

To say dad was a stubborn man, would be an understatement, he knew his mind and spoke it freely. He was full of love for the people in his life, and showed this in both words and actions! Many people called him “Dad.”

He loved the outdoors and enjoyed camping, and was always the first one up, getting the fired started and breakfast going. He loved animals and was very comfortable on the back of a horse. He never met a dog that he could not make friends with.

He is survived by three sons and a daughter, Leonard Hascall of Nampa, Scott Bristow of Hayden, Tracy Bristow of Nampa, and Candi Landers of Coeur d'Alene, 11 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, 2 nephews, and 4 nieces.

Funeral service was held Tuesday, May 25, 2010, at Yates Funeral Home, Coeur d'Alene Chapel. Please visit Lemuel’s memorial and sign his online guest book at www.yatesfuneralhomes.com.

“POPS,” you will be greatly missed!
