Teen video awards today

| May 22, 2010 9:00 PM

The "Academy Awards" ceremony for the "3-Minute Teen Film Festival" will be tonight at 7 in the Community Room of the Coeur d'Alene Public Library.

Earlier this spring area teens in Grades 7-12 were invited to submit videos for the festival to participating libraries - Coeur d'Alene, the Hayden Branch Library and the Post Falls Public Library.

The videos were created using the theme, "Earth in Focus" and were limited to three minutes in length.

Today's program will include a screening of all the videos accepted for the competition as well as some examples of teen videos from other parts of the country. A panel of judges will select the top three local entries.

Winners will receive cash prizes of $100 for first, $75 for second, and $50 for first. The first-place winners will also receive recognition on the Film Festival Traveling Trophy that will be displayed at the winner's library for the next year.

Refreshments will be provided.

The "3-Minute Film Teen Film Festival" has been funded by the participating libraries and their Friends of the Library organizations.
