SAVED: Potential disaster averted

| May 21, 2010 1:03 PM

Last Monday evening I sat down to supper and got a piece of meat stuck in my lower throat. I could not get it dislodged so my wife took me to the Spirit Lake Fire Department. We did not want to dial 911 and tie up our emergency services for fear that someone would need them in a life and death situation.

The personnel at our fire station gave me instructions of the best way to get the piece of meat to dislodge and slip on down into my stomach and to call them if I needed further help or 911. I went home and followed their instructions and in a half hour it was dislodged and slipped down into my stomach. What a relief! These folks helped me in a very scary situation with their professional education and I cannot thank them enough.

My point is support your local fire and police departments for you never know when you or a loved one will need their life-saving services. Thank you, guys and gals. You just verified a friend and supporter forever. God bless you all!
