INJURED: Skateboarder targeted by motorist

| May 21, 2010 10:00 PM

Last Wednesday, May 12, my 16-year old son was on the front page of the paper, in a picture with Idaho’s First Lady. By 4 p.m. he was in KMC ER because somebody tried to hit him with a car. It was witnessed as a deliberate attempt to hit him.

He was skateboarding near 9th and Harrison at about 2:45-3 p.m. when it happened. The vehicle was described as a blue van. A police report has been made, and this is being looked into.

I really hope this was not because he is a skateboarder. (I don’t like seeing kids wear saggy pants, but I don’t try to hurt them.) This has cost him time from school, lost time in job searching, and not to mention the pain and suffering he went through as they had to scrub clean his wounds. He still has a great deal of pain. He has wounds to his chin, hip, both shoulders, legs, and especially his hands which are still in bad shape and will be scarred.

I really hope someone finds more constructive things to do with their time than this. It will get someone else hurt, or even killed.

He was really looking forward to finding a job to support his skating, and keeping up his practicing so he can compete in more events. Thanks for taking that from him. Big thumb way, way up, whoever you are.
