Piano prodigy to play

COEUR d'ALENE - Val Wold, an 11-year-old piano prodigy, will give a benefit concert at 7 p.m. on Friday at Lutheran Church of the Master, 4800 N. Ramsey Road. The Post Falls boy is playing for "Our Daily Bread," a free community Sunday lunch program at Lutheran Church of the Master.

The Post Falls boy is playing for "Our Daily Bread," a free community Sunday lunch program at Lutheran Church of the Master.

Val, who began playing at age 6 and gave his first public concert at 7, was recently awarded a Gold Medal for his outstanding performance of the third movement of Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata at the 2010 Musicfest Northwest.

He has two CDs out, his most recent called "Beyond His Years."
