Stanley P. Jolley, 91

Stanley P. Jolley, 91, born to Paul and Hazel Jolley on Dec. 1, 1918, in Stanley, Iowa. Stan passed on the May 12, 2010, in Coeur d’Alene.

Stan graduated from Lamont High School in Lamont, Iowa. Stan worked on the family farm until his family moved to Idaho when he was 18. Stan met the love of his life Phyllis Marson and it was love at first site. Stan and Phyllis married in 1941 and immediately started their family. They were blessed to have two sons, Delwin and August.

Stan was known most as a “Jack of all trades and a master of none.” Stan worked everything from Boeing, to Bunker Hill to the Great Northern Railroad. Stan built homes in Chewelah and in Otis Orchards. Stan worked on a dairy, delivered gas and oil to local farmers and attended Barber College. Stan opened and ran barber shops in Chewelah, Spokane, Newman Lake, Athol, Rathdrum and Post Falls. Stan at one time owned and operated a barber shop/liquor store.

Stan was an amateur photographer as well as an inventor. Stan also wrote and published poems and songs and was a Cub Master for five years. Stan’s passions were family, friends, fishing, hunting, camping as well as dancing and bowling. Stan was blessed with many friends and gave of himself constantly.

Stan was preceded in death by his wife Phyllis and brother Frank. Stan is survived by his three sisters Helen, Ruth and Madeline; his two sons Delwin and August; his grandchildren, Ted and Suzanne Jolley; as well as his four great-grandchildren Tanner, Alexys, MiKyla and DaNeil Jolley.

The Jolley family would like to extend a special thanks to family friends Bob Scharff, Milli Prater, the lovely ladies at Post Falls Denny’s, Tanya and the rest of the crew at both Rose Terrace’s and a final thanks to Nancy and Diane at Applegate Hospice. You all blessed our lives by being a part of Stan’s.

Memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, May 22, 2010, at Yates Funeral Home, Hayden Chapel.
