Football

The Seattle Seahawks are continuing to keep Leroy Hill at home while they wait for the NFL to possibly discipline their dynamic linebacker.

Seattle coach Pete Carroll said Monday after Hill missed the latest organized team activity that the team doesn't know when the league might rule on Hill's playing status for 2010. Carroll says he is hoping the four-year starter will be available this season.

Hill was arrested for investigation of domestic violence in the Seattle suburb of Issaquah last month, and was previously sentenced to 12 months of probation in Georgia on a plea deal for a marijuana charge.

American League

Yankees 11, Red Sox 9: Alex Rodriguez and Marcus Thames hit ninth-inning home runs, and host New York rallied to beat Boston.

Twins 8, Blue Jays 3: Justin Morneau homered twice, Delmon Young also went deep and visiting Minnesota beat Toronto.

Rangers 4, Angels 3: At Arlington, Texas, Nelson Cruz drove in two runs and Texas beat Los Angeles.

Royals 4, Orioles 3: Kyle Davies allowed two runs in six innings to lift visiting Kansas City over Baltimore.

Rays 4, Indians 3, 11 inn: At St. Petersburg, Fla., Jason Bartlett laid down a bunt to drive in the winning run to lift Tampa Bay over Cleveland.

Chicago at Detroit, ppd., rain: Rain forced the host Tigers to postpone their scheduled game against the White Sox. No makep date was announced.

National League

Phillies 12, Pirates 2: Ryan Howard hit a grand slam and had six RBIs, and host Philadelphia beat Pittsburgh.

Mets 3, Braves 2: Former North Idaho College standout Jason Bay's eighth-inning single gave him an 11-game hitting streak, and visiting New York beat Atlanta.

Reds 6, Brewers 3: Jonny Gomes' three-run homer completed a five-run rally in the seventh inning, and host Cincinnati beat Milwaukee.

Diamondbacks 5, Marlins 1: At Miami, Edwin Jackson struck out a career-high 12 to lead Arizona over Florida.

Cardinals 6, Nationals 2: Albert Pujols had three hits and host St. Louis beat Washington.

Rockies 2, 11 inn.: Aramis Ramirez hit a two-run homer in the 11th inning to lift host Chicago over Colorado.

Padres 3, Giants 1: Clayton Richard and two relievers combined on a four-hitter to lift host San Diego past San Francisco.

Dodgers 6, Astros 2: Casey Blake and Blake Dewitt each drove in two runs and host Los Angeles beat Houston.

Tiger Woods has added the British Open to his summer schedule.

Woods has a chance to become the first player in the 150-year history of the British Open to win three times at St. Andrews, where golf's oldest championship will be held July 15-18.

Hockey

Denmark reached the quarterfinals of the hockey world championship in Cologne, Germany, for the first time, joining Canada and Finland in the final eight.

Soccer

FIFA asked its ethics committee to investigate claims by former English Football Association chairman David Triesman that Spain is trying to bribe referees at the World Cup.

Junior Chelsea Taggart of Bonners Ferry was inadvertainly omitted from the All-Intermountain League softball team in Sunday's Press.
