Second loss to Snow sends NIC home

SALT LAKE CITY - After keeping their season alive with a 5-4 win over Southern Nevada, the North Idaho Cardinals came up short against Snow College, falling 5-1 at Bruin Field to be eliminated from the Region 18 softball tournament.

Amanda Krier hit an RBI single in the third inning for the Cardinals' only run against Snow. NIC finished 33-30.

Karlie Mangleson had three RBIs for Snow (23-30), which advances to face Southern Idaho today for a berth in the Region 18 tournament championship game against Salt Lake, which beat CSI 8-7 in eight innings.

Earlier, Krier hit an RBI single to score Brooke Springer in the seventh inning of a 5-4 win over Southern Nevada in a loser-out game. NIC sophomore Lauren Maloney homered in the first and fifth inning and Juliann Hartnett added a two-run shot in the fourth inning. Snow eliminated Western Nevada on Friday morning.
