PETS: Police your puppy's poo-poo

| May 12, 2010 10:00 PM

While walking my dog on one of the local trails, she stopped to go to the bathroom just off to the side. "You had better clean that up!" a man exclaimed as he rode by. "I will," I said as I pulled a plastic bag out of my pocket.  "Bull@*%#" he yelled.

This incident brings up two important points:

1.  If you take your dog out walking PLEASE clean up after them! No one wants to see the gift your dog left, and there are plenty of options from collars that hold little job specific bags to good ol' Walmart plastic sacks. BUT

2.  If you see someone actually cleaning up after their dog, lay off!  There are actually many dog owners out there that are responsible for their pets and DO clean up after them.

We live in a city that is full of great recreational trails and lots of people are conscientious as they walk their dogs.  We could however use more trash cans on the trails in which to deposit our used bags, but I suppose that is another topic.
