Golf

Police and an agent for 25-year-old Erica Blasberg say the LPGA Tour golfer has died.

Henderson (Nev.) police spokesman Keith Paul said Monday that authorities were investigating Blasberg's Sunday death. It was not immediately clear whether foul play was involved.

Blasberg's agent, Chase Callahan, confirmed her death but declined to provide details because of the investigation.

A message left with the coroner's office was not immediately returned.

Blasberg played her only LPGA Tour event this year two weeks ago in Mexico and tied for 44th.

She found greater success in college, winning six times in two years at the University of Arizona and playing on the Curtis Cup team in 2004. She turned professional that year.

• A Notre Dame golfer disqualified from an NCAA regional tournament for giving false scores during the final round says she was just trying to be funny.

Annie Brophy said her scorecard was accurate and she never intended to turn in a false score. But she told people keeping track of scores every three holes to post on the leaderboard at the NCAA Central Regional tournament at the Otter Creek Golf Course in Columbus, Ind., that she had five birdies, an eagle and a bogey through the first nine holes Saturday on the par-72 course.

She had shot an 85 and an 81 in the first two rounds.

Football

A football player from Missoula, Mont., has died of a head injury suffered during Eastern Oregon's spring football game in La Grande, Ore., school officials said.

Dylan Steigers, a freshman receiver, took a blow to the head late in Saturday's scrimmage, and died Sunday at a Boise hospital.

Steigers walked off the field after the collision, but later vomited on the sidelines, a sign of a concussion.

• The Cowboys and Rams have swapped underachieving former first-round picks, with offensive tackle Alex Barron going to Dallas and linebacker Bobby Carpenter headed for St. Louis.

Carpenter made only two starts in four seasons for the Cowboys, one in the regular season and one in the playoffs, and was a backup inside linebacker in a 3-4 defense last season.

Barron played in 76 games for St. Louis, all but two of them starts, and has been at least a mild disappointment after moving full-time to left tackle last year as the replacement for Orlando Pace.

Basketball

Phoenix Suns assistant coach Dan Majerle and Portland Trail Blazers assistant Monty Williams have met with the Philadelphia 76ers to discuss the team's vacant coaching job.

Sixers general manager Ed Stefanski interviewed each former NBA player in Phoenix. Stefanski says both assistants are valuable assets on their respective benches.

• A judge in Chicago ordered sheriff's deputies to take Miami Heat star Dwyane Wade's estranged wife into custody after she failed to show up for a Monday divorce hearing.

Siohvaughn Wade will have to post $10,000 bond to be released, Cook County Circuit Judge Marya Nega said.

Hockey

The United States was upset by Denmark at the hockey world championships in Cologne, Germany, beaten 2-1 for its second straight overtime loss.

The Americans lost by the same score to Germany and must defeat Finland in the last group game to reach the next round. Denmark advanced with the victory.

Stefan Lassen scored the winner for the Danes. His wrist shot was stopped by goaltender Scott Clemmensen, but the defenseman tapped in the rebound 2:04 into the extra period.
