BJ Shearry, a 6-foot-6 guard for the North Idaho College men's basketball team, has signed a letter of intent to play for the University of California-Riverside next season.

Shearry, a sophomore from Boise, averaged 9.6 points and 5.4 rebounds per game this season for the Cardinals.

"I don't think I realized how valuable BJ was to us," NIC coach Jared Phay said. "I think he is one of the most underrated players in all of junior college basketball and I think UC-Riverside is getting a real steal.

"BJ really wanted to go to a southern California area school and we are happy he reached his goal."

Other NIC players to sign letters of intent include Guy-Marc Michel, who signed with Indiana last week, and Taylor Stevens, who inked with Seattle University recently.
