Motorcycle prize drawing to benefit Heroes Plaza

| May 11, 2010 9:00 PM

A 2009 Harley Davidson Electra Glide that was part of the Coeur d'Alene Police Department will be the prize in a drawing to benefit the Fallen Heroes Plaza at Cherry Hill Park.

The bike was retired last year at 1,754 miles due to a lease partnership with Lone Wolf Harley Davidson. It's valued at $18,000.

"This sharp looking motorcycle is not your average bike," according to a press release. "The fuel tank has been custom painted on both sides to reflect the purpose of the raffle. On one side is a poignant scene of police officers and firefighters responding to the Sept. 11 terror attack on the World Trade Center. On the opposite side of the tank is a beautiful depiction of Fallen Heroes Plaza featuring a police officer and firefighter paying respect to their fallen comrades."

The custom art work was done by G-Forse Airbrush in tandem with Chaz Mataz. Both local businesses in Hayden offered a reduced rate for their services.

The motorcycle will be on display at community events until the prize drawing on July 10 at Lone Wolf Harley Davidson.

Tickets are $100 and only 343 - the number of firefighters killed in the line of duty on Sept. 11 - will be sold.

Tickets are available at the Coeur d'Alene Police Department, Coeur d'Alene Fire Department, the Coeur d'Alene Parks Department and Lone Wolf Harley Davidson.

Other sponsors include Ginno Construction, Panhandle Kiwanis, Cd'A Casino and local artist Terry Lee.

Information: Coeur d'Alene Police Capt. Steve Childers at 769-2320.
