HAYDEN - Kelsey Brockman's 83 gave her medalist honors, and she helped Lewiston's girls win the 5A Region 1 tournament Monday at Avondale Golf Course.

Post Falls, led by Rachel Westby (88) and Maddie Dodge (89), took second and will advance along with the Bengals to the state tournament, which runs next Monday and Tuesday at Avondale.

Since all four low scorers played for either Lewiston or Post Falls, no other individuals advanced to state.

"I tip my hat to both those teams," Coeur d'Alene co-coach Keri Jaworski said. "They posted some pretty impressive scores and they'll represent the North very well at state.

"It's unfortunate for our team, but we did shoot better than we have out there in the past."

Kylie Johnson's 105 was the low score for Lake City, and Jordan Hintz's 107 paced the Vikings.

Viking boys win

Inland Empire invite

SPOKANE - Alex Pounds and Hunter Craft carded 74s to tie for low round of the event, and they led Coeur d'Alene to the title in the 25-team Inland Empire Invitational on Monday at Spokane Country Club.

In a five man chip-off, Pounds ended upb fourth and Craft fifth. Andrew Roller's 78 was good enough for 14th.

"(Spokane's) a good quality course," Vikings coach Bryan Duncan said. "Hunter really stepped it up since breaking into the lineup midseason.

"We had two guys in a chip-off for first, and I think we have won four tourneys in a row, so we'd like to keep that streak alive."

Coeur d'Alene puts its spikes back on today for the 5A Region 1 tournament at Avondale.

"The greens there were plugged recently, but we've had some weather and I hear they are shaping up pretty good."
