OIL SPILL: Take full responsibility

| May 7, 2010 10:00 PM

This planet Earth, that we live on and share with all the other Beings, including the trees and rocks, and the mountains and oceans, is a living, breathing thing. Oil is her life blood that moves and circulates under her skin, the earth’s crust. We have managed to puncture a major artery and she is bleeding profusely. Our greed for oil has given this amazing, living organism a deadly and toxic wound that is going to have severe and long reaching impact. We have managed to destroy an entire eco-system in the Gulf of Mexico and possibly beyond — we don’t know yet. The repercussions will be vast. We are part of the eco-system that we have just destroyed.

When are we going to wake up and realize how to live in harmony with this amazing Being that we live on? We are the “Stewards” of Earth. It is our responsibility to protect her and keep her safe. Earth will not sustain us if we keep doing what we have been doing. Sucking her life sustaining blood (oil), clear-cutting the rain forests, and harvesting entire species of fish and animals to extinction has real consequences. What more does it take to realize we are killing this planet and destroying our only source of Life?

We need to wake up and pay attention because we, the human race, don't have many more chances.
