North Idaho College's musical and choral groups will join forces to present a weekend of music for moms in honor of Mother's Day.

The jazz concert "Jazz Knows No Boundaries" will be at 7:30 p.m. tonight in Boswell Hall Schuler Performing Arts Center.

The NIC Jazz Ensemble will perform the Wayne Shorter piece "Children of the Night" arranged by Mark Taylor as well as the Miles Davis and Victor Feldman piece "Seven Steps to Heaven."

The jazz choir Jazz Co. Big and Jazz Co. Small will feature various choir members as soloists throughout the concert, including Lee Ann Aerlyn on piano during "This Can't Be Love" and vocal soloists Aubrey Abbott, Renei Yarrow, Zach Baker and Laurie Alker.

The traditional "Mother's Day in the Park" concert will begin at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Coeur d'Alene City Park bandshell.

In case of inclement weather, the concert will be moved to the Boswell Hall Schuler Performing Arts Center.

The NIC Wind Symphony will join with the NIC Madrigal Singers on the John Philip Sousa piece "Battle Hymn of the Republic" as well as "Zion's Walls" and "Ching-A-Ring-Chaw."
