Car stolen, recovered

COEUR d'ALENE - No coat and scratching himself? Sounds like a shady character - and he was, turns out. A Coeur d'Alene man and woman who went inside the Denny's restaurant on Fourth Street to pick up a late-night dinner came outside to find their 1993 Suzuki Sidekick was gone.

Sounds like a shady character - and he was, turns out.

A Coeur d'Alene man and woman who went inside the Denny's restaurant on Fourth Street to pick up a late-night dinner came outside to find their 1993 Suzuki Sidekick was gone.

The man told police they left the car running and doors unlocked while they went into Denny's for a "brief time" about 10:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Witnesses told police they saw a while male who looked suspicious "because he did not have a coat on and he was scratching himself all over his body."

The male walked up to the vehicle, jumped in, backed up and drove off.

The victims called police, who put out a call with the vehicle's description. The car was spotted 15 minutes later by Idaho State Police heading west on Interstate 90 in Post Falls.

ISP pulled the car over and arrested the driver. The car was returned to its owner.
