MOSCOW - Jamie Klopatek threw 10 strikeouts and Lakeland defeated Moscow 7-4 in 4A Inland Empire League softball play Wednesday.

With the win, the Hawks (11-10, 4-1) secured the No. 1 seed for the 4A Region 1 tournament. No. 2 Moscow will host No. 3 Sandpoint on Monday. The winner will play at Lakeland on Tuesday for a berth into next Friday's championship game.

Alyana Watson had three hits and Chelsea Campbell and Jordan Thomas added two apiece for Lakeland, which hosts Lake City today at 4.

"We had a really good day, played as a team and had some fun," Lakeland coach Colleen Bevacqua said. "We went to work and took care of business."

The second game of the doubleheader was canceled in the fourth inning due to a mixture of rain and snow and will not be made up.
