JORGENSON: He's vital to Idaho

| May 6, 2010 12:09 PM

Politicians swear an oath of office to uphold the rule of law. It is a rare and special breed of elected official that abides by this promise. Often this commitment comes with a high political price tag. It is indefensible when the assault against honest politicians comes from wealthy special interests without concern for Idaho citizens.

Ask 3rd District Idaho State Senator Mike Jorgenson (R).

Senator Jorgenson has been a lightning rod ever since he made the decision to uphold federal immigration law by attempting to pass bulletproof enforcement legislation. He stepped over the line when he refused to become beholden to powerful special interests in the construction, agriculture and dairy industries. Senator Jorgenson is tired of the lawlessness and the use of taxpayer dollars for the social costs of illegal immigrants.

The Sacred Cow of Idaho politics is protecting these businesses and industries with their addiction to cheap labor at the expense of Idaho's unemployed.

An attempt to unseat Senator Jorgenson is under way.  He has an opponent in the May 25th primary--a candidate with questionable residency requirements for elected office. Idaho employers of illegal immigrants do not want immigration legislation brought up next session and neither do many North Idaho politicians.

It is imperative that Idaho voters keep Jorgenson in the Senate fighting for Idaho citizens.
