Ida Marie Benson, 84

Ida Marie Benson, 84, passed away at Four Seasons Assisted Living Facility in Coeur d’Alene on Friday, March 26, 2010.

Ida was born in Coeur d’Alene on Nov. 14, 1925, to Ralph Seely and Mary Emmaline (Weatherly) Starr. She spent her life time in this area. On June 29, 1942, she married Carl Benson in Sandpoint. She raised her three children (Robert, Penny and Benny) on the Fort Grounds. In 1968 they moved to Dalton Gardens. After Carl passed away in November 1976 she remained in Dalton Gardens until 1995 when she moved to Leisure Park. In 2008 she moved to the Four Seasons Assisted Living Facility. During her working years she was a Nurses Aide at Kootenai Memorial Hospital now known as Kootenai Medical Center.

Ida enjoyed bowling and gardening. While she lived at Leisure Park she enjoyed Dog-Sitting.

She is survived by her three children, Robert Benson of San Diego, Calif., Benny (Nancy) Benson of Post Falls and Mrs. Penny L. (Tom) Russell of Coeur d’Alene. She is also survived by her eight grandchildren, Lori (Casey) Latuseck, Lisa (Mark) Goodwin, Luana Benson, Laura Barnes, Guy Benson, Brian Benson, David Benson and Robert Roe; 22 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.

Ida is preceded in death by her husband, Carl; brother Wilfred Starr; sisters Evelyn Tucker and Aleen Lahaie.

Memorials may be made to the Kootenai Humane Society.

The graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 31, 2010, at The Coeur d’Alene Memorial Gardens. English Funeral Chapel, Coeur d’Alene, is in charge of the arrangements.
