Based on inaccuracies

I assume that Walter Hamelrath wrote his My Turn published on March 27 before Sholeh Patrick’s column of the 25th came out. She points out that there are many untruths out there about Congress. Mr. Hamelrath chose not to take her advice on verifying these rumors. He claims that Congress doesn’t have to pay into Social Security, but they do; if you read her column there’s a link to prove that. He claims they get retirement pay after one term, but they don’t, and she posts a link to prove that.

While I respect his service to this country, by spreading such disinformation he is causing more harm than help. How can we be expected to take him seriously about such important matters as amending the Constitution when he can’t even be bothered to look up such easy matters as Congressional Social Security? It especially hurts that Ms. Patrick gave such a clear example of how to research these issues in her column.
