The Coeur d'Alene School District is sponsoring its fourth annual Spring into Safety Carnival on April 10 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Coeur d'Alene High School.

The free event will include a variety of indoor exhibits related to safety and family preparedness.

Agencies with informational booths will include area fire departments, Avista Utilities, Call B4U Dig, Coeur d'Alene Public Library, Kootenai County Office of Emergency Management, the county's Local Emergency Planning Committee, FireSmart, National Weather Service, Panhandle Health District, Safe Routes to Schools, University of Idaho Extension Office and the U.S. Coast Guard auxiliary.

The Coeur d'Alene City Police will have a table where people may dispose of unused, out-of-date prescription medicines.

Children can climb onboard a fire truck and check out a Coast Guard boat. Visitors can tour the County's Mobil Command Unit and the Kootenai-Shoshone Libraries bookmobile.

A shred truck will be on site, courtesy of Numerica Credit Union. Area residents may bring up to two boxes of personal papers for free shredding.

The school district's Nutrition Services department will be selling lunches for $2.50 per person. Each young child who attends will receive a passport booklet to have stamped by participating agencies; completed passports may be returned for a prize.
