BOISE (AP) - A southwestern Idaho man who police say killed an 8-year-old boy and is charged with first-degree murder has changed his mind and decided to keep his public defenders after previously filing a motion asking to get rid them.

Daniel Ehrlick Jr. told 4th District Judge Darla Williamson Thursday of his decision.

The motion hearing was closed to the public but Williamson released a redacted transcript to the Idaho Statesman.

Ehrlick said he changed his mind after talking with the attorneys and getting a clearer picture of what was going on with his case.

Ehrlick and Melissa Jenkins are charged with first-degree murder in connection with the beating death of Jenkins' son, Robert Manwill.

The child was reported missing in Boise on July 24. His body was found nearly two weeks later in a local canal.
