The Coeur d’Alene Parks Department, with the help of Avista, is installing an outdoor rinsing station in City Park for beach bodies needing to clean themselves after a day at play.

“We get requests for that all the time,” said Doug Eastwood, parks director of the people looking to rise off. “Instead, people are coming off the beach washing off the sand in the bandshell bathrooms.”

And that clogs the sinks.

So the shower, placed by the bathrooms near the bandshell and beach front walkway, will be up in about four to six weeks.

With a push of a button, it will send out a timed amount of water.

Avista is paying 25 percent of the roughly $1,700 project as part the company’s re-licensing requirement with the Post Falls Dam. That agreement asks Avista to assist communities with various waterfront projects.
