CHAMPS: Coaches are champions too

   Sports fans here in the Coeur d’Alene – Post Falls area, we need to applaud and applaud and applaud the outstanding basketball coaches we have:

Dale Poffenroth – head coach, 2010 CDA girls state champs

Mike McLean – head coach, 2010 Post Falls boys state champs

Chris Carlson – head coach, 2010 North Idaho College girls region champs who are headed to the Division National Junior College Tournament

Jared Phay – coach of the 2010 NIC men’s basketball team that won the conference title and came within one win of the national tourney

Hey, southern Idaho has boasted that we’re just a bunch of small town people up here. Hah! No other area in Idaho has two cities as close as Post Falls and Coeur d’Alene are, with as many champions in one season.

I’m just an oldtimer who’s been attending local and college basketball games for 54 years in the Midwest and now here in the northwest and in the Midwest, and let me tell you, we have the best in this area. The above mentioned coaches are just outstanding to visit with. All of them are very humble, yet the top of quality in coaching.

Congratulations all of you outstanding coaches in the CDA-Post Falls area, and fans, start preparing yourself to get to as many games as you can next season at the high schools and college in this area. You’ll be in for real thrills.
