Lois M. Eggart, 84

| March 25, 2010 4:31 AM

Lois M. Eggart was the daughter of Edgar and Gladys Seiter, born Aug. 19, 1925, in Spokane, Wash., passed away March 22, 2010, in Post Falls.

Growing up in Post Falls and looking back, she realized working at her father’s cannery (Seiter’s Inc. Cannery) as a young girl was not only a job she did but an experience she treasured. She attended college at University of Idaho and graduated with a teaching degree.

She married Gordan Eggart and raised four children on the “Rimrock.” She loved her 60 years living on the "Rimrock" and many of the people knew her as Auntie Lois. She taught school in Spirit Lake, Athol and later in Rathrum. Many people in the community would recognize her as “my teacher.”

As a single person, she later worked for a cemetery and then for the Lakes Highway District. Her job at the Highway District was a joy and she loved the people she worked for and with. It was after she retired that she did a few things she had always wanted to do — like travel, take piano lessons and swim. She made quite a number of trips to Alaska and traveled to different parts of the world with her sisters. She had MANY wonderful visits from her children, grandchildren and guests in her home on the “Rimrock.” There are many people who helped and loved Lois during her life and we would like to thank all those who did that while we were so far away in Alaska, especially Frank.

Lois is survived by her twin sons and honorary daughter, Jerry and Peggy Eggart of North Pole, Alaska, Larry and Darlene Eggart of Nome, Alaska, and Bonny and Bill Flagg of Hayden Lake; grandchildren Christina, Jared, Pam, Shannan, Stephanie and Richard; great-grandchildren Morgan, Lynee and Colton; sisters Helen Knott of Post Falls, Dorothy and Dudley Puryear of Surprise, Ariz. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends that truly loved her.

She is preceded in death by her son, Richard W.; daughter Marie; parents Edgar and Gladys Seiter.

The family would like to acknowledge and thank the Life Care Center of Post Falls for the wonderful care and loving concern shown to our mother.

The memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, March 26, 2010, at English Funeral Chapel, 1133 N. Fourth St., Coeur d’Alene. Inurnment will be at the Coeur d’Alene Memorial Gardens. English Funeral Chapel, Coeur d’Alene, is in charge of the arrangements.
