COEUR d’ALENE — Farmers Market season is just around the corner.

But before the Saturday and Wednesday outdoor vending events begin in May, an information and membership meeting will be Saturday in the Pilgrim’s Market at 1316 N. 4th St.

The first meeting will be for market members at 10 a.m., and the second meeting will be at 1 p.m. for the general public interested in the event.

Participants are asked not to park in the store’s parking lot.

The Kootenai County Farmers’ Market started in 1986 as a place for small, local farmers to sell their good directly to the public, and will be kicking off its 25th season Saturday, May 8. All items sold at the market are grown or produced by the vendor.

There are two markets now, and they meet from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday at the corner of U.S. 95 and Prairie Avenue.

On Wednesday, it meets from 4 to 7 p.m. at 5th Street and Sherman Avenue in downtown Coeur d’Alene.

The downtown market begins May 12.

“Friends of the Market,” a volunteer group, and the USDA food stamp program have been added to the market’s activities this year.
