Motorcyclists to ride for bears

COEUR d'ALENE - Motorcyclists Against the Cruel Treatment of Animals, in conjunction with the World Society for the Protection of Animals, will take a motorcycle Ride for the Bears on April 10.

A $10 entry fee per bike and any other donations will be used to help fund a bear sanctuary in Pakistan, a country where bears' teeth and claws are removed and they are tied to posts to be attacked by dogs.

The ride begins at 10:30 a.m. at the Coeur d'Alene Pet Resort at 125 E. Hazel Ave. in Coeur d'Alene, then proceeds to Murray for a barbecue at the Bedroom Goldmine Bar. Lunch is $5, and the bar will donate $2 to the cause for each T-shirt purchased.

Donations can be made at Lone Wolf Harley Davidson, 722 W. Appleway Ave., attention of MACTA with checks made out to WSPA.

Town Hall meeting set for tonight

Kootenai County residents are invited to bring any questions they have to a Medimont town hall meeting tonight hosted by the county commissioners.

The officials will discuss any subjects the public raises, said Commissioner Rick Currie.

"We try to do them (town hall meetings) periodically throughout the county," Currie said.

"We'll answer whatever questions they might have," he said.

The meeting will take place at 6 p.m. March 25 at the Medicine Mountain Grange Hall on Hwy 3 in Medimont.
