AAU BASKETBALL

The North Idaho Elite Thunder eighth-grade girls basketball team took third in the Wenatchee (Wash.) tournament last weekend.

The Thunder won four games, then lost to Cashmere 48-47. Hailey Little led the Thunder with 18 points and 16 rebounds. Madison Sumner led the defensive effort with five steals and six rebounds, and Sydni Parker had eight points and six assists.

The Thunder beat Cascade of Leavenworth 59-12. Sydney Williams led the Thunder with 16 points, Sydni Parker had 11 points and nine assists and Madison Sumner had 11 points. Sara Chalich had six steals and eight assists. The Thunder trounced Wenatchee 63-29. Sydney Williams scored 13 points, Sydney Parker had 11 points and Hailey Jackson and Hailey Little each scored 10 points. Little also had 10 boards.

The Thunder defeated EBC of Issaquah, Wash., 53-31. Sydni Parker had 12 points and five steals, Hailey Jackson had 11 points and four assists, Sara Chalich had 10 points and six boards, and Breanna Kinson had eight boards.

The Thunder also beat the Walla Walla Lady Rebels 43-24. Sydni Parker had 15 points and seven boards, Sara Chalich had nine points, Hailey Jackson scored seven points and Hailey Little had nine boards.

Genesis Prep to hold 3-on-3 tourney fundraiser: Genesis Prep Academy, a private Christian school in Post Falls, will hold a 3-on-3 basketball tournament fundraiser on Saturday, May 15, at the HUB Sports Center in Spokane Valley.

Cost is $125 per team and the registration deadline is April 16.

Divisions are fourth- through eighth-grade, boys and girls, plus a high school coed division.

Registration forms are at the Sports Cellar, Peak Fitness in Coeur d'Alene, Post Falls Parks and Recreation, HUB and Genesis Prep at Real Life Ministries. They are online at www.genesisprep.org under Events and Activities.

If necessary, the event will also be held on Sunday, May 16.

SELECT SOCCER

Idaho Thunder under-15 boys (Anderson): The Thunder won twice in Boise in District 3 league play to improve to 4-0 in league play. Team Thunder travels to Boise again this weekend to compete in the invitation-only Far West Regional League Tournament.

Coeur d'Alene Sting '96 girls: The Sting outscored its opponents 11-3 in four games and won the under-14 division of the Inland Northwest 5-a-side soccer tournament on March 14 in Spokane. The Sting defeated Idaho Thunder (Gronenthal) 3-1 in the championship game. Goals were scored by Aitana Vernon, Alissa Jolliff, and Madi Ward.

ASA SOFTBALL

Players needed: The Dry Ice Softball Organization of North Idaho is looking for a few players for its 16-and-under girls fastpitch team this summer.

Girls age 16 or less as of Jan. 1, 2010, are eligible to play. This is a select team and play a competitive schedule, of 5-6 tournaments, from Memorial Day until mid-July. The team will also compete at state in mid-July when the season ends.

Cost is $75 per player.
