| March 23, 2010 9:00 PM

COEUR d'ALENE - It's time to sign up for the 28th annual Spring Dash, a five-mile run scheduled for 9 a.m. April 25.

The race is a fundraiser for United Way of Kootenai County and a qualifier for Bloomsday "second" seeding, a special starting area for recreational runners. Bloomsday is in Spokane on May 2.

About 1,500 people entered the Spring Dash in 2009 and the race raised about $20,000.

There also is a Tot Trot April 25, which includes a T-shirt, for kids age 10 and under for $5. The Tot Trot will start at 8:15 a.m. and the wheelchairs at 8:30 a.m.

Last year, the race was moved from North Idaho College to Bank of America at 401 E. Front Ave., and will be at that location this year for the start and finish of the race.

Entries postmarked by April 16 are $17, which includes a T-shirt, and $12 for the no-T-shirt option. After April 16 the entry fee is $20 and late registrants are not guaranteed to receive a T-shirt on race day.

Packet pickup is 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 24 at Bank of America, 401 E. Front Ave., and 7 a.m. to 8 a.m. April 25.

Local runners are encouraged to pick up packets on April 24 to help reduce race-day congestion.

Entry forms are available at local Bank of America branches, and online at the North Idaho Road Runners Web site, www.nirrc.org.
