Friday marked the final day to file for candidacy in the May 25 primary.

The ballots will be packed with names, said Kootenai County Clerk Dan English.

"Compared to some years, there's a pretty healthy level of activity," English said on Friday. "At this point, only the assessor and treasurer aren't opposed."

The biggest surprise is the amount of activity among folks running for precinct committees, he said, which boast more than 100 candidates between the Democrats and Republicans.

"This is a lot more (than previous years)," English said.

As of the end of Friday, these candidates had filed to run:

For Assessor:

Incumbent Mike McDowell, Republican.

For County Commissioner, District 2:

Incumbent Rick Currie, Rep.

Chris Fillios, Republican.

Jai Nelson, Republican.

For County Commissioner, District 3:

Incumbent Richard Piazza, Rep.

Dan Green, Republican.

Kevin Ratigan, Republican.

For Coroner:

Tom Cronin, Republican.

Jody DeLuca Hissong, Democrat.

Douglas Stafford, Republican.

Debbie Wilkey, Republican.

For County Clerk:

Incumbent Dan English, Dem.

Cliff Hayes, Republican.

For Treasurer:

Incumbent Tom Malzahn, Rep.
