Ford Ironman Coeur d'Alene seeks volunteers for June 27

Wanted: Volunteers for Ironman Coeur d'Alene on June 27.

"Summer is just around the corner and thousands of athletes are training for one of the most trying athletic events around the world," according to a press release.

The event's success is credited to the 3,000-plus volunteers who have helped each year since it began in 2004.

About 2,000 athletes compete in the 2.4-mile swim, 112-mile bike ride and 26.2-mile run.

Volunteers are needed in a variety of capacities including traffic control, bike and swim courses, and the transition areas. There are also openings for bike sector captains and morning clothes captain.
