DEMS: Debunking four assumptions

| March 18, 2010 11:00 AM

In response to your “Four S’es for Democrats” printed in the Sunday edition, unlike you, Mr. Higens, I generally read the letters to the editor.  Like you, however, I also realized why waste my time and effort in futility with people who do not want to hear the truth, Republican or Democrat. I also believe that each and every person has a right to their opinion, be it different from the current government and you.

I changed parties when Republican Bush was elected. To my limited knowledge (I am also a college graduate) there isn’t a Democrat who has a belief or policy in favor of withdrawal from a nation, state, organization, or alliance. Talk to the Republican, Sarah Palin and her husband about secession.

Yes, I looked up Secessionists. As for segregationists, all you had to do was watch the Republican National Convention to see ALL of the white population represented. How many nationalities did you see in the audience Mr. Higens?

Socialist: Who set up Medicare or Social Security? It wasn’t a Democrat, yet those social programs are for all who qualify, Republican or Democrat. I’m betting that as a Republican, you want those “social” programs when you retire? Were you aware that Mr. Bush tried to use and sought to undermine Social Security by using a strategy borrowed from Vladimir Lenin during his term?

Finally, suppression, which is my personal favorite as a Democrat. Suppression means censorship, veil of secrecy. Mr. Higens, read “The Truth” by Al Franken, (yes, he is a Democrat). The book reflects both Republican and Democrat messages.

Open your eyes, Democrats didn’t get us into this mess, and in case you were not aware with both of your college degrees, Bush was impeached two days before he left office, and Cheney was in power for two whole days. God help us. He was impeached by Democrats and Republicans. Wonder why?
