DUI: Three cheers for law enforcement

| March 17, 2010 6:53 AM

I am writing this letter in regards to 03-11-2010 Post Falls Press: DUI BUSTERS. Great story; these officers are getting the credit they deserve for a great job well done.

I know thay have a thankless job sometimes. I for one have no use for any impaired driver. When  when I was 17 I watched a young lady die at my feet because of a head-on crash with a repeat drunk driver who had just gotten out of prison for killing someone else.

I wish we had checkpoints to look for impaired drivers. Our court system works but we can improve the numbers of people who go to jail for DUI if more people would just pick up that

cell phone when they see a car all over the road. Call the police. Maybe the driver is drunk and the life you save may be your own or a loved one.

These brave officers cannot be everywhere, everytime. I want to say thank you for keeping our roads safer. Please remember that some of this officers are also military and will be heading overseas to protect us there, too. So if you see a law enforcement officer on or off duty, tell them thanks for a job well done. Please remember: Drunk driving is NO ACCIDENT.
