GYMNASTICS

Flip takes top team honors: The Flip Factory Gymnastics of Coeur d'Alene USAG compulsory and optional women's team, along with its men's team competed recently at its home meet, Monkey Madness in Coeur d'Alene.

The Flip Factory Level 7 USAG optional women's team swept first place team honors for the meet. The individual first place all-around award went to Alanna Yeend with a season high 36.175. Second place all-around went to Sita Custer who landed second place on bars, floor and beam. Felicia Rodgers received the third place all-around award with second place on vault. Kaitlyn Delong contributed with a fourth place all-around finish.

The Flip Factory Level 6 USAG compulsory women's team also placed first in team scoring. Taylor Brockhoff landed first place all-around and qualified to compete at the state USAG meet later this month. In second place all-around was Indy Anna Hall.

At Level 5 the Flip Factory USAG women's compulsory team received first place team honors with a third place all-around score from Abigail Peightal landing a second place on bars, beam and floor. A fourth place finish went to Ashlyn Morrow, who also will be attending the state meet. Mikayla Oswald took the fifth place all-around award.

At Level 4 the Flip Factory USAG women's compulsory team swept first place honors again with all-around first place from Sydney McLean who also captured first place honors on floor and beam. Alex Bennett received second place all-around which included a first place on vault. Abby Quigley landed third place distinctions in all-around with a first place on bars. Lauryn Keith landed fourth place, Katie Blomgren fifth and Kylie Krieg sixth all-around.

At Level 3 the Flip Factory Gymnastics USAG Women's Compulsory Team placed with Selena Harris (first), Maddy Quigley (second), Kendall Gegory (third), Riley Sheets (fourth), Grace Hite (fifth), Danielle Santerno (sixth), Faith Khoma (seventh) and Shelby Westray (eighth).

At the Novice level for the Prep-Optional women's team, first place was captured by Anika Yeend. Mallory Okon was third, Selina Brown fifth and Mallory Lunceford sixth at their division. In the second division placement saw second all-around for Alyvia Huntley, fourth for Kasey Bein, fifth for Mackenzie Danly and seventh for Elizabeth Arbic.

At the Men's Level 6, Stephen Johnson finished with a first place all-around with a best 85.1. At Level 4 for ages 10 and up Chase Pearson finished with a second place all-around. For the Level 4 group age 7-9, Kameron Morgan finished with a sixth place all-around and Aiden Rodgers a seventh place all-around.

Team Avant Coeur shines: This past weekend, Inland Empire Gymnastics Association's Team Avant Coeur sent teams to Phoenix for the Carter's Gymnastics Invitational and to Missoula for the Mismo Magical Meet, and both came away victorious.

In Phoenix, the Level 10 team (the highest Junior Olympic level) took the team championship, defeating several teams from California, Arizona and the southwest in their best competition of the year.

"The girls are really coming into post-season form," said Lisa Adlard, Avant Coeur's head coach. "After a successful Great West Gymfest (held at The Coeur d'Alene Resort, Feb. 19-21), this weekend shows that they are in great shape for state, regionals and nationals, which begin in two weeks."

Individually, Hannah Wolf was fourth in the all-around competition 34.425 in Level 10 Junior competition.

In level 10 senior, Davina Carr was third on floor exercise with an 8.9, Stormi Winter was fourth on beam with a 9.05, and was fifth on vault and bars. Erin Stone tied for fifth on vault.

In level 9 competition, Chelsea Averna was first on bars (9.175) and floor (8.8), second on vault and second all-around. Morgan Abrams was third on beam and fifth on floor.

The lone level 8 making the trip to Arizona, Ashlyn Smith, was sixth on vault.

In the Mismo Magical Meet in Missoula, Avant Coeur also took the optional team championship, despite having many of the top athletes in Arizona. The level 6 team was second behind host Mismo. The level 4 team was third, and the level 5 team finished sixth.

In individual level 8 competition, Courtney Cutting was second all-around, and third on bars and beam. Zoey La Rue was first on floor with 9.2, and was fifth all-around. Brooklyn Bunch was seventh all-around, and fourth on vault.

For the level 7 Juniors A division, Nicole Dundas was firth on all 4 events, and first in the all-around with a season best 36.725. Arlaina Steophenson was second on vault with 8.8, Tessa DePasquale was fourth on beam, and Kyra McFeely was fourth on bars.

For the Junior B age group, Dani Lawson was second all-around, second on bars and floor, and was first on vault with a 9.4. Tia Jessup was second on vault, and Cassidy Stulc was fifth on floor.

For the level 7 seniors, Megan Morris was first on vault with a 9.45, and third on floor with 9.15, finishing fifth in the all-around.

In the level 6 competition, Amber Mallet was second all-around, and was also second on vault, bars and floor. Love Wahl was first on beam, third on vault and bars and all-around. Kiandra Carpenter was first on floor, and Maddie Stackow was fifth on bars

In level 5, Ashlin Couch was second all-around, and first on beam. She also finished second on floor. Peyton Mark was fourth on vault and seventh all-around. Delani Robbins was seventh on bars, McKenzie Roth was fourth on beam, third on floor and fifth all-around.

In the level 4 competition, Tyler Priddy was second on bars, beam, floor and all-around, and Alicia Gage was first on vault and fourth all-around. Cassidy Forester was fourth all-around in level 4 Junior, and was second on vault. Allie Kyes was fourth on vault, and third on beam, and Briana Kelly was 11th all-around. In level 4 senior, Katie Nungesser was first on beam with 9.1, and was second all-around. Wendi Fencl was fourth on beam.

SELECT SOCCER

Sting under-12 girls: The Sting Croghan White team competed in the Inland Northwest 5-Aside in Spokane last weekend.

Game 1 was a 4-2 loss to SSC Elite G'97 Bellefeuille. Shaylee Morlan had one goal and Julia McCaw scored off an assist from Megan Daniels. Tanner Bowen had 6 saves in goal.

Game 2 was a 6-1 victory over SSC Elite Dobson 2. Julia McCaw scored a hat trick and had one assist, Megan Daniels had two goals, and Allison Branscome had one goal and one assist. Shaylee Morlan had one assist, and Tanner Bowen had three saves in goal.

Game 3 was a 4-2 loss to Sabers/Stiles. Julia McCaw had one goal and Allison Branscome had one goal off an assist by Megan Daniels. Tanner Bowen had four saves in goal.

Sting U-11 Clark girls: The Sting won its division at last weekend's Inland Northwest 5-a-Side tournament. They defeated the Spokane Shadow-Marta Sky team 2-1 in the championship match. The girls defeated the River City Foxes 1-0 on penalty kicks, when keeper Lilly Brott stopped a River City PK after a successful Sting PK by Havana Johnson. Overall the girls went 4-0-1 in the tournament.

n Soccer registration: The City of Coeur d'Alene Recreation Department is taking signups for girls grade 6-7 division spring soccer and boys grade 6-7 division spring soccer. Registration will continue until all teams are full. The office is located at 710 Mullan Avenue in the lower level of City Hall.

The league will start in mid-April and run through the end of May. Registration fees are $11 for Coeur d'Alene city residents and $16 for non-city residents.
