Violet Nutt, 91

Violet Nutt died on March 14, 2010, at 6 in the morning.

She was born in Everett, Wash., Feb. 28, 1919, to Charles and Betty Schuhardt. She graduated from Arlington High School in 1936 and married Dara Brown Warren in 1938.

While their three children were young, she was a Campfire leader, Den mother and Juvenile director of the Degree of Honor. She is a past president of Lady Lions and the Arlington Hospital Guild.

In 1969 they moved to California, where she was a member of the Brea Police Department for 17 years, starting as a Dispatcher/Matron. The last 10 years she was Records Supervisor. The marriage ended in 1974; in 1978 she married Lloyd Nutt. Following their retirement in 1981, they moved to Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, where she was active in church, having been president of the United Methodist Women and the Christian Women’s Fellowship. She was secretary of the First Christian Church for 23 years.

Violet loved nature and animals.

She is survived by her daughter, Darla Reise of West Linn, Ore.; daughter and son-in-law Luanne and Pat Melior of Post Falls, Idaho; and son and daughter-in-law Charles and Jet Warren of Athol, Idaho. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held at 6 p.m. Saturday, March 20, 2010, at the First Christian Church, 610 N. Fourth St. in Coeur d’Alene, with Pastor Bob Cordes officiating.
