Lunceford completes

insurance course

David Lunceford, Farmers Insurance agent in Coeur d'Alene, completed the Career Agents Course at the University of Farmers.

The University of Farmers training facility, located in Agoura Hills, Calif., was officially dedicated Nov. 3, 2006. Farmers CEO Robert Woudstra noted that the university is national in scope, and offers training to Farmers' 15,000 agents and their staff, 500 district managers and 10,000 claims staff year round.

"David completed the five-day Career Agents Course, which is clearly defined and targeted to enhance the professional skills of Farmers' agents," said Annette Thompson, senior vice president of Farmers, in a press release. "The course gives an agent the ability to learn how to successfully understand the needs of Farmers' customers and help them choose the right insurance to meet their needs. Using professional facilitators and a curriculum that maximizes training effectiveness, this course is a road map to success for every agent."

Oncologist named at cancer center

Marathon runner Fran Mason, M.D., is the newly-hired medical oncologist at the Kootenai Cancer Center in Sandpoint.

She is a nationally recognized expert in fitness and exercise, particularly as it relates to cancer survivorship.

Maurices associate earns cruise

The Maurices annual cruise event has become a tradition since the first cruise was introduced in 1996. Coeur d'Alene store associate Susan Erlandson has earned her seat and will join 148 other company associates for a five-day cruise March 21-26 on the Norwegian Caribbean - The Dawn. The ship will take these winners to Grand Cayman and Cozumel.

The annual cruise is a company-sponsored event that rewards the top 60 store managers, top store associates, and district managers with some fun under the sun in exotic locations. The cruise offers a chance to bring the company's top performers together, along with executives and associates from the home office, allowing each to learn from one another as they continue to develop their strengths.

Additionally, it allows Maurices to gather the best practices from these field leaders and share their ideas with the entire organization, supporting others in reaching their maximum performance. The most unique feature of the cruise is how it stretches the company's top performers throughout the entire year in order to earn their place on the trip, a press release said.

"There is time set aside for basking in the sun, enjoying the excursions at port, and interacting with fellow associates in this unique setting," Maurices senior vice president of stores John Schroeder said. "In addition to the free time, the sessions held on the cruise are designed to be informative and interactive.
